Transportation Information for 2019-2020 SY

Over the past few years, CAM District 21 administration and staff,  the Moweaqua and  Assumption Chiefs of Police and Police Departments have studied the driving and parking issues and safety concerns at our schools and have put in place the following changes for the 2019-20 school year.  We know that these changes will cause frustration while we learn new pathways, but, please be patient and kind. As in any change, there may be things that need fixing or tweaking. Please call either the police departments:  Moweaqua - 217-768-2160, Assumption - 217-226-3742, or the CAM District Office - 217-226-4042 if you have any concerns. 

IN MOWEAQUA -- Effective August 19, 2019  drivers will no longer be able to make a left turn into parking spaces, back into parking spaces, back out of a parking space and go east (opposite direction of travel)  or making U-Turns during school hours while children are in school. 

There will be signs posted and police officers out educating all drivers of the changes. After a period of time, you may be subjected to being cited for the sign violations. 

We also added a bus loading zone in front of Gregory Intermediate and moved the handicapped parking to the west by the teachers parking (Signs will be posted and the ground marked) to get the bus closer to the sidewalk for safer loading and unloading of our students. It will be marked off by yellow lines and it is not to be used for any other purpose. You still need to stop when the bus activates its red lights and the stop arm is out for both directions of travel on Pine during loading and unloading.

For those who use the Handicapped Parking the spaces provided are to be used to park and exit your vehicle for school related business  and is not to be used to park and wait to pick up your students.

IN ASSUMPTION -- Effective August 19, 2019 the vehicle entrance and exit at the middle school will be changing. Drivers will enter at the east entrance of the Middle School and exit from the west entrance.  Students (both Bond and MS) will be dropped off at the front doors- MS students will enter into the east side of the front doors, Bond students will enter the west side of the front doors. Staff will be present at the doors to take the Bond students to their correct locations; MS students will need to go to their lockers and follow teacher guidance. There is a designated BUS lane at the front of the school. This lane will be ONLY wide enough for one vehicle. If buses are loading at this area, you will not be able to pass them, so plan accordingly. If parents need to come into the MS office at any time during the school day, they will need park in the parking lot, not in the BUS lane and come in. There is to be no vehicle parking in the BUS lane at the Middle School at any time, including during after school events. 

Shuttle students can be dropped off and catch their shuttle at the west corner of the building (gym locker room side).

The back of the MS building will be inaccessible to cars during drop off 7:00-8:30 AM  and pick up 2:00-4:00 PM.  BUSES only will drop off students at the East doors for MS students and the Bond office door for Bond students. During the day hours of 8:30 - 2:00 parents of Bond children may use the east side lane to go to the back of the building if they come to BOND school. There will be minimal parking in the back for parents who need to come to the Bond office. There will be a metal arm on the west side of the building that will be closed  throughout the day for student playground safety.  Please be cautious as you exit the Bond parking lot (during the hours of 8:30 AM-2:00 PM); you will need to turn around and exit on the east side of the building.

Moweaqua to Assumption shuttle (UNCHANGED FROM LAST YEAR):  

MS students -- 7:25 AM - East side of HS 

Bond students -- 7:45 AM - HS cafeteria doors

Assumption to Moweaqua shuttle (LOCATION CHANGED):                

HS students -- 7:25 AM

Gregory students -- 7:45 AM  

All Assumption shuttles will be located at the west corner (gym- locker rooms) of the MS building

Please remember that these changes are for the safety of all students that are being dropped off or picked up at the school and to avoid any vehicle collisions with any other vehicles. It's a brand new school year and a GREAT one to be a RAIDER!
